Marketing in a Mobile World

From Black and White TV to No TV?

It seems like only yesterday that Dad brought home our first TV (black and white). It was exciting! (I got my love of technology from Dad 🙂).

Do you remember the days when the TV reception came and went with lots of “snow” in between. (Maybe not – it WAS a few years ago 😉). Well that is what our first TV. experience was like.

At the time we lived in a small town in the South Island of New Zealand, about 100 miles from Christchurch where the TV antenna beamed it’s signal from a hill. The quality of the reception very much depended on the weather and atmospheric conditions.

But there was a bonus: every time an airplane flew over the house, the TV became very “snowy” and then we were able to enjoy about 15-20 mins of TV Australia 🙂

I remember saying to Dad “soon we will have color TV”. Dad thought that wasn’t possible. Sadly he did not live to even see my first computer (which was black and white and ran on DOS).

And now today, with technology advancing at lightening speed, so many of us are consuming more and more video and less and less TV.

We also find ourselves reading less and watching more videos (or listening to podcasts or audiobooks). Even TV looks like it could become obsolete in the near future! Why?

More people are watching videos, not TV.

In fact statistics from various sources are showing  that:

Video is projected to claim more than 80% of all web traffic by 2019″ (Quoted by Forbes from Hubspot) This IS 2019!

90% of customers report that product videos help them make purchasing decisions”. (Hubspot)

We will be exploring more of these quotes and facts in the coming days, and what they can mean for your business – so stay tuned!

All the very best:

P.S. Could T.V. REALLY become extinct? Well here is a statistic to think about:

Millennials’ mobile consumption has now eclipsed their live TV consumption (comScore, 2018)

MMC's Mission

Mobile Marketing Champs was founded with a three-fold purpose:

To help you to navigate this technical world and take advantage of all that it offers to grow your business. This we will achieve by providing regular newsletters (short, sweet and visualized), tutorials and tools as well as services to help you in your business.

To support young entrepreneurs in Mexico and help them grow so they can support the work of their local churches and communities.

To support the local churches in Mexico where I spent 25 years serving. This support will include my visiting several times a year to continue teaching as well as continuing to publish teaching materials for them.

(I have children’s booklets that need to be published on Kindle See below)
